A VISIT TO A NORMAN SHAW HOUSE IN CHELSEA

UK EVENT

Thu 08 Feb 2024

No. 68 is probably the last of the Victorian town houses in Chelsea’s Cadogan Square with a largely unaltered layout. Designed by Richard Norman Shaw in 1878, the house is currently used as a prep school for boys, but headmaster Nicholas Kaye has maintained much of the building’s original character and finishes, including De Morgan tiles. Mr Kaye will introduce the tour and show us his study, furnished as a Victorian drawing-room, as well as his own flat on the sixth floor. (Note: there is no lift.) While we are exploring the house, pupils will perform a musical entertainment, and the tour finishes with a drink in the ballroom. Numbers limited to 25.
