Glass: Venice, Venini and America

ZOOM LECTURE

Sun 11 Apr 2021

Zoom lecture by Sarah Nichols, at 6.00 pm (London). After the Second World War Paolo Venini’s innovative and entrepreneurial approach to design and business ensured the success of his Murano glass factory. Unlike other Venetian furnaces he welcomed foreign designers, as did his son-in-law who succeeded him. This lecture will examine the company’s links with America and the impact this had on the American studio glass movement from the 1960s.
