The research would need to demonstrate public benefit and relevance to the DAS and its aims and lead to an outcome for the Society such as an article in its Journal or Newsletter or a lecture to the Society. Funding would cover relevant travel and subsistence up to a maximum of £1000.
Applications for travel grants to attend conferences, seminars, or courses that are beneficial to the recipient’s career development will also be considered. Funding would cover relevant travel and subsistence up to a maximum of £1000 per grant. In addition, small travel grants (for example, the cost of a train ticket) are available to museum professionals to attend events for career development.
Awardees of research and travel grants would be expected to take out personal membership of the DAS for a year.
How to Apply: Research grants: include in your application a brief CV, the outline of the overall project, details of the research trip and how it fits into the overall project, the budget for the trip, a letter of reference/support from your institution, and the outcomes expected from the research trip. Travel grants for career development: include a brief CV, details of the event, course or conference and how it relates to your career interests, and costings.
