TOUR OF WATTS GALLERY ARTISTS’ VILLAGE

TOUR OF WATTS GALLERY ARTISTS’ VILLAGE

UK EVENT

Fri 24 Apr 2026

Watts Gallery opened its doors in 1904 as the only gallery in the UK devoted to a single artist, George Frederic Watts, often hailed as ‘England’s Michelangelo’ for his powerful works and portraits. His remarkable wife Mary Watts was a visionary designer and artist herself, founding The Potters’ Arts Guild at Compton, a progressive enterprise that brought together local craftspeople to create beautiful terracotta art.

Our visit to the Artists’ Village will include private tours of the beautiful Grade I listed Watts Chapel and Limnerslease, the Grade II listed Arts & Crafts home of George and Mary Watts, completed by Sir Ernest George in 1891, with its original gesso ceilings designed by Mary Watts.

The visit is from 11.30 to 15.30 and the cost is £75 to include lunch and refreshments with some entry discounts available. Please contact Martin Webster, Chairman of the Events sub-committee if you would like a place on this visit.
