TOUR OF THE NEW ROSALINDE & ARTHUR GILBERT GALLERIES AT THE V&A, LONDON
UK EVENT
Wed 22 Apr 2026
Join the curatorial team for a tour of the newly redisplayed Gilbert Collection. Seven permanent galleries explore craft skills and techniques, material culture and the history of collecting. Each object reveals captivating stories about its makers, past owners and the context in which it was created. Sir Arthur and Rosalinde Gilbert formed one of the world’s most outstanding private collections of decorative arts, comprising glass and stone mosaics, portrait enamel miniatures, gold boxes and silver. Meant ‘for everyone’, the collection has been at home in the V&A since 2008. We will explore the stunning redisplay of the collection and hear about the refurbishment project and the concepts behind the new displays. There will be a particular focus on 19th-century and contemporary objects within the Gilbert Collection.
The visit is from 14.00 to 15.00 and the cost is £12. Please contact Jessica Insley if you would like a place on this visit.
