Exhibition and Study Session at the William Morris Gallery

UK EVENT

Fri 24 Jan 2020

Join Curator Roisin Inglesby for a tour of Pioneers: William Morris and the Bauhaus. The exhibition explores the deep links between the British Arts & Crafts movement and the Bauhaus, with a particular focus on the textiles, ceramics and sculpture created during the school’s early years in Weimar. The afternoon study session will take a closer look at the work of George Jack, the British-American architect and designer-craftsman who, after entering the office of Philip Webb, designed furniture for Morris & Co. The session will include examples of Webb’s varied output alongside Jack’s architectural decoration, furniture and mosaics, as well as embroideries he created in collaboration with his wife Annie.
