Anglo-French Links in Normandy: Varengeville-sur-Mer and Dieppe

FOREIGN STUDY TOUR

Wed 12 Jun 2019

Wednesday to Friday 12–14 June 2019

A special visit to Le Bois des Moutiers, the 1898 masterpiece created by Edwin Lutyens at Varengeville-sur-Mer for the banker Guillaume Mallet will be the centrepiece of this two-day programme. The family will welcome us and we shall enjoy the house and spectacular garden plus the nearby church perched above the sea with its Braque windows. The visit will be based in the historic port of Dieppe, where the programme will include the collections of the Chateau museum, the Petit Théâtre (originally built in 1826 for the Duchesse de Berry and now containing a memorial to the Dieppe raid of August 1942), and the works of architect Georges Feray, including the Art Deco Villa Perrotte, which is still in the same family.
