The Fitzwilliam Museum is the largest museum of the University of Cambridge. A ‘collection of collections’, it has outstanding holdings of antiquities, manuscripts and coins and medals, as well as fine and applied arts. After an introduction by Director, Tim Knox, members will be given tours of the Shakeshaft Bequest of Studio Pottery, the Goodison gift of contemporary British craft and the new loans from the Frua-Valsecchi family, which include Arts and Crafts furniture and Art Nouveau glass. Members will also be able to handle some objects originally in the Handley-Read collection, including works designed by Alfred Gilbert, Walter Crane and William Burges.
