Visit to Royal Holloway College

UK EVENT

Wed 06 Nov 2019

Senior Curator Laura MacCullogh and Dr Imogen Tedbury will lead the visit to Royal Holloway College in Egham, Surrey. This great ‘Temple of Victorian Art’ was built in the French Renaissance style in the 1880s by Sir Thomas Holloway. Opened in 1887 by Queen Victoria, it houses a magnificent gilded chapel and a fine collection of paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings collected by Sir Thomas, as well as an archive from Christiana Herringham, an almost forgotten artist, copyist and art patron. After coffee on arrival, we will have a curator-led tour of the Picture Gallery and Chapel. Following lunch, we will visit the archive, art stores and exhibition space.
