Keeper of Costume Grace Evans and Curator Emma Warren will lead a study day focusing on the Olive Matthews Collection of Dress at Chertsey Museum, a treasure trove of dress and local history displayed in a beautiful Regency town house near the Thames. Olive Matthews amassed her nationally significant collection of around 4000 important articles of dress and textiles during the 20th century. We will have a guided tour of the galleries and a talk on Olive Matthews. An afternoon study session will focus on some of the best post-1850 pieces.
