Private Study Visit to Kelmscott Manor

UK EVENT

Tue 11 Sep 2018

We are privileged to have private access to Kelmscott Manor, the inspirational Cotswold retreat of William Morris and his family, friends and colleagues, on one of its closed days. Morris first took a lease on the property in 1871 and his family retained links with this `loveliest haunt of ancient peace’ for the next 67 years. The collections include furniture designed by Philip Webb, items for Morris’s London houses including several designed for the Red House, and needlework by Jane Morris and her daughter May. We will have tours of the house and look in detail at some of the collections and hear about the major renovation and reinterpretation project `Kelmscott and Morris: Past, Present and Future’. There will also be time to explore the gardens and grounds and take a self-guided walk around the village.
